I haven't been very good at getting the site updated lately.  Seems like I never have enough time these days!  But, armed with a new digital cam, some great new info, and some cool new projects, I'll be posting again soon!  Stay tuned.  .  .

This site is dedicated to the ongoing restoration of a historic Victorian house in Olney Illinois.  The house was built by James Gray McLean around 1885.  Mr. McLean owned a prosperous lumber yard in Olney and built his house to reflect his prominent social stature.  The house has many unique features including pocket doors, stained and cut glass windows, 3 fireplaces, and ornate woodwork and hardwood floors.  It also has a beautiful veranda that stretches over 900 square feet on three sides of the house.

I purchased the house on July 1st 1999 and am working to restore the house to as close to original condition as possible.  The pictures on this site will document some of the more major projects.

This is a recently acquired picture of James G. McLean and his wife Anna (Pfeffer) on their wedding day Aug 3, 1886.

Please browse through the other pages on this site to see some of the ongoing (or never ending) restoration efforts.
